WASHINGTON —On August 25, 2026, David M. Prouty was sworn in for his second term as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. Member Prouty’s second term will commence on August 28, 2026.

Member Prouty, of Maryland, was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve a second five-year term expiring on August 27, 2031. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 7, 2026.

He was first nominated to the Board by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., and confirmed by the United States Senate on July 28, 2021. He was sworn in for his first term on September 22, 2021.

We look forward to continuing our work together in furtherance of the goals of the National Labor Relations Act,” said Chairman James Murphy.

Before joining the Board, Member Prouty served as General Counsel of SEIU Local 32BJ, which represents more than 175,000 property service workers. He previously served as General Counsel and Chief Labor Counsel of the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) and as General Counsel of UNITE HERE and its predecessor, UNITE. Earlier in his career, he spent fifteen years as Southern Regional Counsel for UNITE and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU).

Member Prouty received his A.B., magna cum laude, from Bowdoin College and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

Member Prouty is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
