WASHINGTON â The Department of Veterans Affairs announced today $16 million in new grants to 91 community-based organizations across the country that provide adaptive sports programs for Veterans and service members with disabilities.
Adaptive sports programs give Veterans opportunities to build independence, well-being, and quality of life through a variety of competitive and recreational activities. These activities, such as archery, hunting, fishing, skiing, cycling, various wheelchair sports, and many others, enable Veterans to rehabilitate through recreation and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.
