VA developed the “Reserve and National Guard (RNG) Military Life Cycle (MLC) module,” an online course, to explain VA benefits to those serving in the reserve and in the National Guard.
The RNG MLC module is part of the VA Transition Assistance Program, but it isn’t just for people who are separating. It’s designed for reserve component and National Guard members and their families at every part of the service stage, whether you’re currently drilling, activating, deploying, returning home or planning for the future. Because the module is online, you can access it at a time that works for you.
What you’ll learn in the RNC MLC Module
The RNG MLC module focuses on four key areas:
- Eligibility requirements for VA benefits and services: You’ll get a clear explanation of how your activation history, length of service and character of discharge impact your eligibility for benefits.
- VA benefits, services and tools: From disability compensation and VA healthcare to G.I. Bill™ programs, home loans and career resources, this module helps you understand what’s out there and how to use it.
- Dual payment rules: Learn to navigate the process of receiving VA disability compensation while balancing other forms of military pay, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Community resources: Learn to find VA-verified local and national resources that can enhance your well-being and strengthen your support networks.
There are approximately 1.2 million reserve component members and nearly 1 million reserve service family members. Whether you’re a reserve component member seeking clarity on your benefits or a family member looking to support your loved one, the RNG MLC module provides the tools to succeed.
